UPMARKET - ANNUAL OUTDOOR CRAFTS FAIR IN GOTHENBURG SINCE 1991
UPMARKET is annual fair for high quality applied arts and design products made by hand. The fair takes place in the lush, green park Trädgårdsföreningen/Garden Society of Gothenburg a weekend in the end of the summer. The park is one of the best preserved 19th century parks in Europe, located in the middle of the city.
Around 60 exhibitors show a wide range of work, from fun design to unique and one-of-a-kind art pieces. 20 new and talented students (from the School of Design and Crafts, Gothenburg University, and Steneby-The School of craft and Design) are also invited to the section UP/FRESH.
KHVC organizes UPMARKET, today an established and popular part of the Gothenburg Culture Festival, a city festival with a broad cultural program.
THE WINNER
Every year a winning presentation is chosen at the fair. In 2010 Tommy Hansson, blacksmith, was the people's choice. His work is on the poster and the invitation cards for the 2011 UPMARKET. He is also invited by Trädgårdföreningen to show his large metal sculptures in the park all summer.
